Sonya St-Martin has been passionate about the circus arts since an early age. At 11, the stage was already part of her life. She began as an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil, first in the show Saltimbanco (1992), then Alegria (1995 and 1996). Following an injury, Sonya was forced to put her passion aside temporarily and look to other professions. She returned to academics and obtained a diploma in cultural and corporate events from the School of Show Business in Montreal.

In 2000, she made a strong comeback with the firm intention of devoting herself entirely to the performing arts. With her diploma in her pocket, Sonya became tour director, artistic director and then general manager of the show RAIN at Cirque Éloize. She then became artistic director of the Cavalia show created by the company of the same name. Her career then took her to the four corners of the planet where she had the chance to collaborate on several major events including the opening of the Place des Festivals in Montreal (Live event broadcast), the opening ceremony of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan (2012), FIFA Istanbul, Cirque du Soleil's Allavita, presented respectively as part of the Universal Exhibition in Milan (Italy) and Reflekt in Astana (Kazakhstan) and JOYA, a resident show by Cirque du Soleil in Mexico. In 2018, she added a new creation to her portfolio, directing Cirque du Soleil’s Diva show in Andora. She also signed the acrobatic design of Cirque du Soleil’s Axel Ice Show in 2019.
